THE MISSING PIECE[es]

After many hours of sitting looking longingly at the laser cutter, I have ALMOST got all the pieces I need to start assembling the waffle prototype! This model will be about 2 metres in its longest direction once finished (providing it’s assembly is successful…) Once I have this waffle frame I am going to have fun with a series of material based tests (not giving too much away for now…) I remembered to number the pieces this time, so it should be a much more organised process. Only 2 more large sheets to cut… SO near yet so far! Watch this...

BLAME IT ON THE EARTHQUAKE

In light of the recent earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand, I present you with a  really interesting article by Lebbeus Woods – which discusses the lack of responsibility taken by architects and engineers in finding serious solutions to deal with this catastrophic, (but totally natural) event when it occurs in an urban environment. He makes the point that the tragedy which results from earthquakes occurring in populated areas is not the ‘fault’ of the earthquake (hoho), but more a failure of the architects and engineers who constructed that environment.
